Anita Kelsey Jazz

MOBO WINNER 1997 (JAZZ CATEGORY)

“Jazz discovers a dazzling new diva” ....... The Evening Standard

Anita voice lends itself very well to the Jazz scene. With a blend of Soul and Gospel in her delivery mixed in with her beautifully pure jazz overtones it’s no wonder that many artists within the Jazz arena have wanted to perform with her ‘live’ as well as in the studio.

*

Anita has toured and recorded with many major Jazz artists such as Saxophonist Steve Williamson, Flutist Philip Bent, guitarist Mo Nazam, award winning Vibraphonist Orphy Robinson, keyboardist Matt Cooper (Incognito), and pianist Ceri Evans (Sunship) as well as under her own name. She has performed at all of the major Jazz festivals worldwide and legendary venues such as The Blue Note in Japan and London’s Ronnie Scotts, 606, Purcell Rooms, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Royal Festival Hall, the latter of which Anita was given the honour of a support slot for guitarist Al Di-Meola. Anita  is also one of the lead singers in The Jazz FM big band who performs on a regular basis on the corporate circuit as well as an off and off running show in theatres around the UK.

*

Anita works in many formats to suit each venue. At the 606 club & Ronnie Scotts Anita performs with a quartet/quintet, However at smaller venues such as restaurants/bars Anita will perform either as part of a duo or as a trio adding sax, trumpet, or guitar. Anita only works with the cream of the crop in the Jazz world so you can be assured that each musician that performs alongside her is of the highest standard and probably a name in their own right.
